Public Hearing Notice

Notice is hereby given that the Newberry Township Zoning Hearing Board will conduct its reorganization and hold a public hearing on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Newberry Township Emergency Services Building, 1895 Old Trail Road, Etters, PA 17319, to consider the following:

Docket: 2025-01. William Stanley, 100 Iron Furnace Court, Lewisberry, PA 17339. Applicant has filed a request for a special exception pursuant to Zoning Ordinance Sections 380-27.B(3)(a)[1] and 380-59A(45) to construct and operate a 13,235sq.ft. place of worship and recreation center on property located in a Rural Resource(RR) Zone at 1960 Potts Hill Rd, Etters, PA 17339, being Tax Parcel No. 39-000-PG-0178.A0-00000.

Newberry Township Zoning Ordinances

The use of land within the Township must comply with a Zoning Ordinance, developed by the Comprehensive Plan. The Zoning Ordinance specifically identifies benefits of land and the districts within which these uses are permitted. Zoning districts are geographically plotted, based upon municipal needs, on the official map of the Township. The Zoning Ordinance also contains provisions for the variance of its specific terms and conditions based upon a hardship running with the land that the property owner has not created.

Newberry Twp. Zoning Variance Application Review Process

The Township’s Zoning Hearing Board hears zoning Variance applications. This Board is a five-member quasi-judicial body appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Zoning Hearing Board also hears appeals and renders decisions on permit applications that have been denied by the Zoning and Codes Officer. Zoning Hearing Board Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month.
